RPG Maker 2k3 is such a good engine. I don't know many people don't like using it. All the VX games I ever see always have the same rtp, and all look like identical games (no offense). I wish people would use 2k3 because you can do so much more on it. So it doesn't have scripts, but that doesn't matter, you can still do amazing things anyway. I've seen it. I've seen a 100% identical version of SNES Zelda a link to the past done with 2k3.
The battle system is amazing because you can use animations as your battlers, or enemies. Have your own cast animations, or anything, really. VX, you can't really do that. Every spell cast in VX, I always see the same spinny triangle thing. 2k3 doesn't have the alpha transparency (blend) effect, but that really doesn't matter because lots of SNES RPG's don't use alpha transparency.
And mapping! The mapping is great! The tilesets aren't as big as VX's, but really...Could VX make these kind of maps I've made here? (without using panorama)
Spoiler:
Bottom line is that you can make authentic SNES-style games with 2k3. Please give it a try?

@Ranma44, I know. If all 2k3, XP, and VX could be spiced together, and even include addition 8x8 tiles for extra detailing, and animated GIF tiles you import, and add to the animations section of the tileset. Yes... but that only exists in a dream. v___v'

They need to fix VX and turn those 32x32 map tiles back to 16x16 like they should be! EVERY 2D RPG, that goes for playstation. They all use 16x16 tiles. SNES, and NES, and gameboy too. Because of VX having huge tiles, any graphics you try to rip from games, have to be blown up. I hate that. They need to stop. -___-''

Even though I started with VX, I found RM2K3 to be a great practice tool for any new RPG Makers.
Man, eventing was the heart and soul of that engine, and it definitely made you work more to create the game (each new version of RM made it easier to create games, actually...)
